About Us

Akermin is based in St. Louis, Missouri, and was formed in 2004 to commercialize breakthrough stabilized enzyme technology invented at Saint Louis University.  In 2008 the Company is demonstrating its prototype of a fully functioning biofuel cell operating on methanol fuel and using stabilized laccase to replace the metal catalyst in conventional cathodes.  Commercial applications in wireless sensors and military uses are our primary focus.   Development for the use of stabilized enzymes in the food processing, biofuels, chemical, and pharmaceutical industries is under way.
