Chemical and Pharmaceutical

Synthesis of chiral intermediates using enzymatic catalysis is becoming increasing common to produce pharmaceutical intermediates and other fine chemicals.  Not only are many enzymes stereoselective, but the number of enzymes now available to catalyze a wide variety of reactions continues to grow.

Use of SEBS™ technology from Akermin offers a number of potential advantages for immobilized enzymes.  Effective stabilization of often expensive enzymes will extend their lifetime; make them easier to handle, separate, and recover; and result in greater productivity and production efficiency.  Additionally, bioprocesses using new and difficult to stabilize enzymes can be made feasible using this ground-breaking technology.  To date successful immobilization of hydrolases, oxidoreductases, and isomerases has been achieved.
