Research Associate   -   Full-time position

Major Responsibilities:

This position is in the chemistry area of fabrication and testing biofuel cells and fuel cell systems. Primary responsibilities are in the area of fuel cell catalyst and catalyst layer fabrication, fuel cell system design, and electrochemical evaluation of fuel cell electrodes. The applicant must possess the ability to creatively find solutions to complex problems that may arise in multifaceted projects, as well as manage multiple tasks and priorities.  Additional responsibilities include proper collection of data, communicating procedures/findings via verbal and written reports and helping to establish research initiatives and objectives as a part of a research and development team. 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related field 
  • Minimum two years experience in an R&D laboratory environment
  • Experience in designing  and characterizing polymer electrolyte membrane fuel cells and fuel cell systems desired
  • Experience in electrochemical analysis techniques desired
  • Strong analytical capabilities, as well as written and verbal communication skills required.
  • Must have ability to work in fast-paced, start-up company environment; producing technical results for key company objectives.

Electronics Technician -   Full-time position

Major Responsibilities:

This position is in the engineering area of a multi-disciplinary biocatalysis development team.  Primary responsibilities are in the area of assisting an electrical engineer developing electronics in support of low power DC systems.   Duties include testing and optimization of electronic circuits, bread boarding circuits from schematics and implementing test circuits/procedures, troubleshooting various circuits using sound electronics knowledge, and solder assembly of small printed circuit boards.

The applicant must possess the ability to creatively find solutions to complex problems that may arise in multifaceted projects, work in a multidisciplinary group, as well as manage multiple tasks and priorities. The applicant must also be self motivated and be able to work in a fast paced environment. Additional responsibilities include proper collection of data, communicating procedures/findings via verbal and written reports. 

Qualifications:

  • Associates degree or equivalent in Electronics Engineering or Electrical Systems Technology
  • 1 – 3 years experience
  • Experience with PIC microcontrollers and PIC programming
  • SMT soldering skills
  • Strong working knowledge of electronic circuits, including op amps, digital circuitry, and DAC’s and the ability to apply that knowledge to circuit analysis
  • LabView experience is a plus
  • Circuit design experience is a plus
