Senior Research Scientist - Polymer Chemistry Major Responsibilities: Qualifications:
Full-time position
This position is in the biotechnology area of a multi-disciplinary biocatalysis development team. This individual will contribute to efforts in developing novel polymeric systems for enzyme immobilization and stabilization. This is a hands-on position that also requires supervision of lab personnel. Primary responsibilities are in the areas of enzyme immobilization in polymer structures and coating of polymers onto various support materials for use in a packed bed bio-reactor. The applicant must possess the ability to creatively find solutions to complex problems that may arise in multifaceted projects, work in a multidisciplinary group, as well as manage multiple tasks and priorities.
• Advanced degree in polymer chemistry, chemical engineering, or related field required (Ph.D. preferred or equivalent industrial experience)
• Experience with polymer coating methods required
• Experience in polymer synthesis and characterization highly desirable
• Experience with phase separated or micellar polymers highly desirable
• Strong laboratory skills required as well as proven supervisory skills
• Strong analytical capabilities, as well as written and verbal communication skills required
• Must be capable of working in a team environment
• Must have ability to work in fast-paced, start-up company environment; producing technical results for key company objectives.
Major Responsibilities:
This position is a leadership role in the chemistry area of designing, planning, leading and conducting of research trials on biofuel cells and fuel cell systems. Primary responsibilities are in the area of fuel cell catalyst and catalyst layer development, fuel cell system design, and electrochemical evaluation of fuel cell electrodes. The applicant must possess the ability to creatively find solutions to complex problems that may arise in multifaceted projects, as well as manage multiple tasks and priorities. Additional responsibilities include proper collection of data, communicating procedures/findings via verbal and written reports and helping to establish research initiatives and objectives as a part of a research and development team.
Qualifications:
Major Responsibilities: This position is in support of both the engineering and chemistry groups of a multi-disciplinary biocatalysis development team. Primary responsibilities are in the area of data collection and testing of the effectiveness of catalysts for gas processing technologies and assembly and testing of fuel cell systems. Duties include: performing routine analytical procedures, proper collection of data, providing lab support to on-going projects on an as-needed basis, and communicating procedures/findings. The applicant must possess the ability to creatively find solutions to complex problems that may arise in multifaceted projects, work in a multidisciplinary group, as well as manage multiple tasks and priorities.
